New feature: LinkedIn company update
Posted by: | CommentsI was trying to figure out what to write today for my blog when I saw a message in my inbox about the new feature of LinkedIn: company updates! That was a tip from heaven. I haven’t written about LinkedIn in a while, so it is great to write about it today. The minute I saw the message, I just imagined all the things you can write in a company update:
- New promotions
- Invitation to connect/follow your company
- Information about products and services
- Just simple information
- Tips and tricks with your company name attached
I can go on, but I will try to restrain myself (smile). You get the picture: everything you normally post but in your company’s name. How amazing is that for your marketing?! What, you don’t have a company profile? No, not only the big companies can have one – you can have one too. I have one (smile) and I am a solopreneur. Just watch the video and you will see how easy it is to add a company profile to LinkedIn – and to post an update.

How to edit and add your website on your LinkedIn profile
Posted by: | CommentsI am just putting together a course on how to optimize your LinkedIn profile. Part of the optimization is to change the link to your website in your profile from “my company website” to something more exciting. Additionally, you will learn how to add your Facebook page URL to Linkedin as well. Enjoy the little video and I will keep you posted when the course goes live: http://screencast.com/t/dlurjSSg8
How to set-up a successful LinkedIn account
Posted by: | CommentsFirst of all, get another email address besides your personal or business email. A yahoo, hotmail or googlemail address works great. The reason for this is that the address is public on the web and might be caught and used to send spam. This way, you keep your personal and your business email clean.
- Go to http://www.linkedin.com
- Click the “join now” button
- Complete the information about yourself. Do not forget to add the keywords that people would use to find you. You can see how far you got on the progress bar LinkedIn displays.
- Summary: Enter your 30-second elevator speech in here
- Specialties: Enter your skills and keywords for SEO in here
- Work history: be short and concise; remember most people just skim the content
- Add links to your website/blog – it is one of the main intentions to show people more about you
- Photo: make sure it is professional – this is your resume on the web
- Tagline: significant and unique – this is what most people see first from you
- Edit your public profile settings to show only the information to everyone that you want to show
- Set your vanity URL for your LinkedIn profile
Take your time by filling out the information. Keep in mind what your goal is and focus your writing on that.
