Google+ Sparks
Posted by: | Comments
Google Sparks is one of the nice features of Google+. Basically, it is like a Google alert, just right in Google+. You can search for your favorite topic and then save the search, so you can get back to it whenever you want to. You will see the newest posts and blogs about your topic. This video explains what Sparks are:

Since Google+ added its search feature, this is how you find Google+ Sparks and add them:

Google+ gives you the choice to see everything, people, Google+ posts and Sparks from your favorite topic. You can choose to save just one of the searches or all of them (choose everything and click save). You can choose to see (and save) only the Sparks from your favorite topic. The Sparks are everything Google finds on the web about your topic. Google+ posts are just the posts on Google+ about your topic. People are all the people that have the keyword you entered in their profile description. Everything includes all the searches.
Here is a quick tip: I use the people search to find my target market. I just type in my keyword and then look through the people search results and add them to my circles.
Now you also know why it is important to fill out your profile and add keywords in it – you will be better found. But that is a post for another time. Try the search feature out and see what you can find. Besides using it to find my target market, I also use it as an inspiration on what to write about.
Top 3 reasons why you need to be in Google+
Posted by: | CommentsGoogle+ is the new social network on the blog. Well, it really is not that new anymore, just when you compare it to the other social networks. You have already accounts in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. Now you are supposed to add another network? Why?
You need to be in Google+ because every public post goes straight to the Google search engine. I am not kidding. I have Google Alerts set up for my keywords, so I get an email every time something pops up in Google about those keywords. I have never gotten a keyword alert for a Twitter post, a Facebook post, a LinkedIn update or a YouTube post. But every time I post in Google+ (and make it public) I get a Google keyword alert. Not for my name, but for my keyword. Now that is powerful. A really good reason to be in Google+.
You need to be in Google+ because it is the fastest growing social network. Facebook took 3 years to hit 25 million users. Twitter took 30 months to hit 25 million users. Google+ added more than 25 million users in the first month. In August 2011 (2 months after launch) 13% of U.S. adults signed up already for Google+. Check out the infographic about the people on Google+ at the end of the post. Did you find your target market in the top 10 occupations? What about the big slice of entrepreneurs on Google +? For sure a good reason to be in Google+.
You need to be in Google+ because people read what you have to say. That is a funny reason. Sure you want people to read what you post! Aren’t they?
45% of Google+ members read content on Google+ daily. Only Facebook can beat that number.
